David Mahvi, MD

Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Mahvi is a founder and the CEO of Carolina Kidney Partners.

Dr. Mahvi is the former President of the Northwestern Medical Group. He has many years of experience with healthcare system strategy and operations. He has also developed and managed value-based health care programs in Chicago and Charleston. His focus is on providing providers with the resources needed to manage patients with chronic disease. He envisions value-based healthcare as the optimal way to align providers and care coordination in the management of patients with chronic kidney disease.

Howard Lifland, MD

Chief Medical Officer

Dr Lifland is a longtime partner in Columbia Nephrology Associates. Dr Lifland completed his undergraduate training at Washington University in Saint Louis and obtained his MD at the University of Rome. He completed internal medicine training at the University of Virginia affiliate in Roanoke VA. He did his nephrology training at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. Howard started his career in Connecticut but was enticed to South Carolina by Joe Brannigan in 2008.

Doctor Lifland was previously the Chairman of the Quality Committee at Columbia Nephrology Associates from 2010 to July 2024. He was subspecialty Teacher of the Year at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He also teaches Nephrology to the PA students at University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He has been recognized as a Top Doctor multiple times in Columbia magazine. He also has a long-standing interest in clinical research, and has been the principal investigator or sub-investigator in 40 trials to date. He is the current chair of the SC DHEC Advisory Council on Dialysis.

John Mahvi

John Mahvi is the Chief Technology Officer of Carolina Kidney Partners.

John Mahvi has 25 years of information technology experience across a broad spectrum of sectors, including technology, manufacturing, information security, and healthcare IT.

Lynn Hutt

Chief Compliance Officer

Lynn is the Chief Compliance Officer of Carolina Kidney Partners.

Prior to joining CKP, Lynn was the Director of Healthcare Compliance and Institutional Privacy at The University of Toledo Medical Center. at which, she was responsible for the following: financial reviews, billing audits, compliance, privacy and research issues. Lynn has extensive experience in managing audits that originated from the Office of Inspector General, Center for Medicare and Medicaid, and CGS. he is certified in healthcare compliance from the Healthcare Compliance Association (HCCA).
